✦ LISA MYCHOLS BIO ✦

Lisa Mychols is a Long Beach, CA native whose music is rooted in the timeless melodies, harmonies, and emotional pull of ‘60s and ‘70s pop. Her musical journey began with Lost Winter’s Dream, a ‘60’s-inspired dream-pop project written and recorded with Darian Sahanaja and Nick Walusko of Wondermints, known for their work with Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. ✦

Lisa began playing bass guitar at 16, joining her first band, The Mozells, while still a teenager and performing in the Los Angeles club scene. She later taught herself electric guitar at 18 and developed her skills as a drummer in an unconventional way by tapping out drumming patterns on a school desk in high school. Her early experiences as a multi-instrumentalist led to years of songwriting, performing, and collaboration, including The Masticators, Nushu and The Checkered Hearts. Her work as a bassist has also taken her beyond her own projects, including showcase performances with The Waking Hours at iconic Los Angeles venues such as The Roxy and The Troubadour, where she opened for Rilo Kiley, Rooney, and Maroon, before they became Maroon 5. ✦

Among her earliest recordings was Lost Winter’s Dream, a project that became known within the underground pop community and was later released by the U.K. label Rev-Ola. In Music We Trust described the record as “smack dab in the middle of Sixties pop-rock joy”. Her solo catalog has continued to grow through releases including In This City, Sweet Sinsations, Above, Beyond & In Between, and Sugar. Her collaborations, including Lisa Mychols & SUPER 8, have also become an important part of her musical career, with The Big Takeover describing the project as “an adventurous piece of work that is truly cinematic in scale.” ✦

Currently, Lisa’s band The High Frequencies, signed with Jem Records, is working on its second album. The band’s debut album, released in 2025, has been praised for allowing Mychols to explore a harder-edged side of her power-pop sound. Powerpopaholic described The High Frequencies as Lisa Mychols “latest vehicle” and it “fits her like a custom-tailored suit.” The band recently performed in London and at the world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, where The Beatles began their legendary career. ✦

And yes, even with all that she has accomplished, she’s still a little shy about putting herself out there. But she’s working on it. ✦
